Initially published on September 28, 2016 Don’t mind the title of the blog, its just since, well,  Rapunzel lived in a castle and I happened to go on a trip this weekend that required a little bit of hiking to get to the first castle. It was an early morning trip and I had to run to catch this bus. This was a group hiking tour organised by  Interhelp desk  and we left Debrecen at 7:20 am. We finally arived to the foot of Varhegy (castle hill) the hill on which stands regec castle at 10:10am. It then took us another 40 minutes to reach the castle, which is why I say we did a little bit of hiking. It was a fun walk up, the terrain was indeed rough, so do wear proper hiking shoes. Initially published on September 15, 2016 Holland is not synonymous with The Netherlands.  Holland is just a part, a region in the Netherlands, they have South and North Holland and then there are other parts in the country that are not in Holland. 2. Much of it is below sea level.  the Dutch have a saying, “God created the world, the Dutch created the Netherlands” this is because most of the land was reclaimed from water, most of the houses in Amsterdam are reportedly built on stilts. That’s why its called the Netherlands = The Nederlands. 3.  The Dutch are the tallest people in the world.  The men are on average as tall as 184cm and the women 170cm. 4. The Great Wall of China, it really does deserve its name. Its such a great heritage for the chinese people a reminder of of their roots. I was in awe through out. I climbed the Badaling section of the wall in Beijing. My friends and I were so lucky, see, it had rained on the morning of the day we decided to climb the wall, so normally many people might decide to not climb the wall on a rainy day, and so therefore, when we got to the wall, there wasn’t a long queue, later on the number of tourists started to increase but by then, we were already on the wall. yayy! Get a subway map, I stayed in Beijing for five days and by the 2nd day I could go around by myself, it’s much easier than Xian, since the subway goes almost everywhere, with some mobile wifi, you can navigate yourself. March 21, 2016 The first time I went hiking in my life was in secondary school, this was at Shere Hills, in Plateau state. As the name implies this is one of the mountainous and coolest places in Nigeria, if you aren’t used to the tropics, you might consider staying in Jos, when you visit Nigeria. My second time, was in Xian. Its the Qinling mountains, I paid 20 yen for a ticket. On the back side, was a little map of the mountain. I went with a couple of friends. The weather was quite hot, so I wore shorts, big mistake, the vegetation of the mountain wasn’t so friendly, and I was left with a few scratches afterwards. This was a great adventure for us, we had our chinese friends with us who were also new to this area, but good thing they understood chinese so we could ask fellow hikers a few questions. The whole trail, took us about 9 hours, our goal was to reach the top of the mountain, and no we didn’t reach the top of the mountain, some locals told us, that would take 3 days, no one ...

This blog is a salvage from a previous blog Terngu.com which lasted from 2016 to early 2019. I lost it due to failure to pay my hosting fees on time at a time when life was really too hectic for me. Thanks to way back, I have been able to get a few articles back, but without most of the pictures. This is a journey of my travels.
