Hiking in Xian, China
The first time I went hiking in my life was in secondary school, this was at Shere Hills, in Plateau state. As the name implies this is one of the mountainous and coolest places in Nigeria, if you aren’t used to the tropics, you might consider staying in Jos, when you visit Nigeria.
My second time, was in Xian. Its the Qinling mountains, I paid 20 yen for a ticket.
On the back side, was a little map of the mountain. I went with a couple of friends. The weather was quite hot, so I wore shorts, big mistake, the vegetation of the mountain wasn’t so friendly, and I was left with a few scratches afterwards. This was a great adventure for us, we had our chinese friends with us who were also new to this area, but good thing they understood chinese so we could ask fellow hikers a few questions. The whole trail, took us about 9 hours, our goal was to reach the top of the mountain, and no we didn’t reach the top of the mountain, some locals told us, that would take 3 days, no one was willing to endure some three days hiking trip. It was quite drilling but much fun.
China in this summer, was quite warm, other than the heat, I had nothing to complain about. Along the trails, we saw a few villagers selling cold drinks and snacks, of course it was more expensive than down the mountain. Hiking is always a good experience, you get some exercise, if you go with people, its a time to know them better. Hiking is also a good way to test your endurance capacity, just how far can you go?
Prendre plaisir! (Enjoy!)
